Connect Spark HDMI/SDI Static IP setup without a DHCP enabled Switch

If you are in an environment in which a Static IP is needed or you don't have a DHCP server to assign an IP address, here are steps to set a Static IP.  In this article, we used a PC running Windows 7 OS to provide the screenshots so your options may appear slightly different.

Set Static IP in Windows:

1) Install the NDI|HX driver on the Windows 7 PC, which can be found here: NDI|HX Driver

2) Connect the Spark and the PC directly into each other via standard Cat6 networking cable

3) On your Windows 7 PC, click Start, select Control Panel, and then choose Network and Sharing Center.

4) By now, Windows should have identified your network type and probably says it has no internet access. Click the Connection type.

5) Click Properties

6) Select Internet Protocol Version 4, and click Properties

7) Choose the option for "Use the following IP address".

  • For the IP address, use anything in the 192.168.100.x range, except for 1, 255, or 168. (for example, we used 192.168.100.20)
  • For the Subnet mask use 255.255.255.0
  • For the Gateway use 192.168.100.1

If the steps above were successful and you wish to establish a Static IP address on your Spark (to be used with switches without DHCP support), please continue on to the instructions below.

Set Static IP on Connect Spark HDMI or SDI:

1) Open up a web browser and navigate to 192.168.100.168 to pull up the Local link (failsafe) admin page.

2) When prompted, enter your username and password (by default, it's "admin" for both fields).

3) You'll be presented with the standard Admin page for the Spark.

4) Navigate to the Administration tab.

9) Launch NDI Studio Monitor (it would've been installed along with the drivers back in step 1)

10) Right click on the background to choose your source. Your Spark will now appear as an NDI source.
