Problem Description and Steps to Verify/Reproduce
When working in “Live Production”, one or more video inputs shows up black or distorted. In a nutshell we are talking about video not showing up (black input) or a bad connection/signal (distorted).
Steps to Fix/Workaround
You will need 3 good video signals in order to test your Video Inputs. These sources can be any of the following:
NOTE: If you're using a TriCaster Studio or Broadcast you will need to:
a) exit to the Admin mode,
b) click on Configure TriCaster located on the destop, generally in the lower-right corner.
c) then select 3 Camera Mode from the dialogue window that pops up.
You can now enter Live Production and continue.
- Connect the three video signals to inputs 1, 2, and 3.
- With the inputs physically connected make sure your inputs are set up correctly in the software. You can do this by clicking on the Input set-up tab and selecting the type of signal you are inputting into the TriCaster. (Component, composite, s-video, SDI) Shown below using a TriCaster Broadcast UI.
Now, check the three video Preview screens, making sure that you can see all of the video sources. Compare what you see to the following descriptions:
a. If one or more of the video sources is not working, double-check the input-setup tab to verify the correct video signal type is selected.
b. If one or more of the video sources is still not working, try swapping the video cable with one of the inputs that is working to check if it's the cable or video source itself.
c. If you are still having trouble, shut-down the unit and Re-Seat the VT/HD Card inside the machine.
