Bringing in HDMI as a source through an SDI converter

In the event your TriCaster only accepts SDI inputs, but your source is only via HDMI, you will need a converter to receive that signal into the TriCaster. Keep the following in mind:

  1. What exactly is your device outputting through the HDMI?
  2. Is it a non standard resolution?
  3. Is it possible that the source device may not be outputting a stable/legal signal (non-SMPTE compliant)? If so, to resolve this, you will need a frame synchronizer and some converters may have this built in. This will force the output of the converter to be SMPTE compliant.
