Setting Network Location and Disabling Windows Firewall in Windows 7

In order to change the Network location and Disable Windows Firewall within Windows, go to the Network and Sharing Center by clicking the wireless or wired icon at the bottom right of your screen located by the time and date. 

When you open the Network and Sharing Center, you will see these options:

In the View your active Networks section, the network type will be listed as Public, Work or Home.  If the Network type says "Public Network" click the blue link to change it.  Having your network set at Public will often prevent certain network traffic from being able to communicate across all ports.  

Select either Home or Work as the network.  Now proceed to change the Firewall settings:

Click the "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" option which will give these options:

Ensure your Network Firewall is turned off.
