NewTek Blacklisted Applications

By their very nature, live integrated video production products like TriCaster® and 3Play® include easy to operate but complex to develop software that comprises many internal modules. In a production environment, it’s essential to reserve the proper resources available, optimize utilization, and confidently rely on the health and performance of the system. Modern OS such as Windows® operate under NewTek’s live production software, and at times, other software is installed on the same system. Typical workstations and servers may bear such loads with negligible impact; however, when another software program attempts to use the same resources as the live video production software, the result negatively impacts the program feed sent to viewers.

NewTek does not bar users from installing other software applications. Still, it is strongly discouraged and, if necessary, advised to stress test the system to make it suitable for live performance. In some cases, NewTek software is incompatible with other applications due to the requirements of being a real-time video production product. Specifically, applications that allow for remote desktop viewing, file sharing, or real-time antivirus software “wedge” themselves between NewTek software and the system resulting in slower video frame rate on output, dropped frames, audio/video sync, and more.

The following non-exhaustive list includes software and services that are incompatible with NewTek’s live production applications when operating in production conditions. We recommend using these 3rd party software products outside of live production or successfully on another system in the greater production workflow.
