NDI Protocols have now been added within Blueframe Production Truck Software which now allows you to wirelessly; use camera/audio source inputs, output a program feed, and output/input overlays.
Note: In all of these instances, the devices must be on the same network. Deep NDI integration is only available on the Mac version of Production Truck.
Using NDI on Mac Production Truck
The NDI integration on Mac allows for the following:
Output a Program Feed
In order to output a program feed wirelessly from Production Truck, you will need to download NDI Tools on the Computer B. Specifically, you will need to download NewTek NDI Video Monitor.
Within Production Truck on Computer A, navigate to Preferences, then Audio/Video. Then under Program Output, for the source option select NDI Output.
On Computer B, open up NewTek NDI Video Monitor.
With that open, navigate up to the MacOS navigation bar at the top and select File, then select Computer A, and select PT Program Output 1.
Within Production Truck on Computer A, navigate to Preferences, then Audio/Video. Then under Program Output, for the source option select NDI Output.
Then, within Production Truck on Computer B, navigate to Preferences, then Audio/Video. Then under a Camera Source, select the name of Computer A. You should then receive the program feed from Computer A.
You can then do normal Production Truck operations on Computer B and stream from there!
Bringing Custom Overlays into Production Truck
If you want to use custom overlays from a third party software and bring them into Production Truck, this is entirely possible! The other software will need to be capable of outputting the overlays via NDI.
Output the overlays on Computer A via NDI.
Then, within Production Truck on Computer B, navigate to Preferences, then Audio/Video. Then under Overlay Input, select the name of Computer A. You should then receive the overlays from Computer A.
You will be able to toggle the overlays from Computer A within Production Truck by selecting the Overlay and Clear options within Production Truck.
Note: There is not a preview feed of the overlay.
You can then do normal Production Truck operations on Computer B and stream from there!
Output Production Truck Overlays
If you really like Production Truck's overlays, but are using another software for streaming, you can output Production Truck's overlays so they displayed on another computer's software. This will still allow you to control the overlays within Production Truck.
Within Production Truck on Computer A, navigate to Preferences, then Audio/Video. Then under Overlay Output, select NDI Output.
Then within the software on Computer B, you should have an option to input the overlays being sent from Production Truck. Any Overlay on the program feed within Production Truck will be output.
Note: This can also be done with another instance of Production Truck, so overlays are done by the person operating Computer A, and on Computer B other Production Truck duties, including the stream itself, are done.
Using NDI HX Camera App as a Camera Source
You can also download and use NDI HX Camera Application via Newtek NDI to use your mobile device as a camera.
You will also need to download the NDI HX Drivers on the computer. This can be done within Production Truck. Navigate to the top MacOS bar, select Help, then select Download Links, and finally NDI HX driver. Go through the download process.
Once you have downloaded the app and opened it on your device, navigate back to Production Truck. As long as your computer and mobile device are on the same network, your device will appear automatically as a source option within Production Truck. It will be labeled as the name of your device.
Once you have selected it as a camera source, you will see a live feed from your device. You can also bring in audio from the device, by selecting it as an audio source, under Audio 1.
You can change various aspects of the camera using the options under Settings icon on the NDI HX Camera App.
Using NDI on Windows Production Truck
Using NDI with Production Truck on Windows allows for the following:
Bringing in a NDI Source
In order to output a program feed wirelessly from Production Truck, you will need to download NDI Tools.
Once this is installed and the NDI device is setup and outputting properly, navigate into Production Truck. Under the Settings area, and then under Audio/Video. Select the Camera source you wish to bring it in as. Then select the NDI Receiver option.
Then under the Line In option, you will see a list of all the NDI options available on your network. Select the source you wish to use from the dropdown.
Note: After selecting the NDI receiver as a source option it may take a few seconds for the Line In options to correctly populate as
sources are searched for.
That source will then begin populating in that camera field on Production Truck.
